
Up until a few years ago you would be hard-pressed to believe you could actually use a 800mm F5.6 lens for any type of action and behavior photography let alone bird photography. But along came superb gimbal heads (eg. Wimberley, Jobu Design) and the lightweight (for a 800mm lens) Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM and a lot or users switched their old generation 500 or 600mm F/4 for the longer 800. And what a lens this is, super fast focusing and super sharp.
