The new trend among camera manufacturers are the advanced lens interchangeable point and shoot cameras. Up until now Panasonic and Olympus have been in the forefront of the new camera evolution but recently Samsung and lately Sony joined the bandwagon. Whether its a trend that´s here to stay only time will tell.
